World's Worst

.. I admit it, I am the world's worst blogger. So maybe I will give it another go, no promises though! I cannot believe it is November, time here has been extremely busy, and gone by so fast. I have made some of the best friends that I could have ever imagined. God has put people in my life, that I know will last for a long time and I am forever thankful for that. Since the last time I wrote my mother came to visit which was especially nice. We had a good visit, and it made me happy she came. Living in another country different than yours comes with experiencing new things, and this I have done.. a lot. Somethings good, some bad, when I am home (DECEMBER 19) I would love to share some of them with you. Sooo invite me over :)

I am amazed each and everyday at the progress of these students. They want to learn so much, and are so excited to learn. You have to remember, most of these kids (first grade) speak three languages already. THREE!?!? They all have very diverse backgrounds in escuela (school) and come with many different levels of learning to Guatemala. They are amazing me at their progress in reading though. They are such fun kids!

One of my most memorable experiences that I have had thus far happened on Sunday. Sunday was a holiday here called "Day of the Dead" where they celebrate the deceased. They spend a very long time creating kites. The kites are made out of bamboo rods, glue, and tissue paper. These kites are truly masterpieces. They are extremely huge, and very detailed. They fly the kites to send "messages" to the dead. They also make a food dish called fiambre. These dish was well... interesting. I want chik-fil-a on my grave.. not fiambre! They put this on the graves for the dead to eat I guess. It was a really neat experience and I have posted a pic of the kites.

.. I will try REALLY hard to keep this a little more updated! :)
